TV Ratings 9/27/12: ABC’s Last Resort Fails to Overcome Bad Timeslot

Last Resort is probably one of the most ambitious series of this TV season. It generally got good reviews. ABC promoted it as much, if not more, than anything else on their Fall schedule. But, it is in a timeslot that has buried many other shows. As you can see below, the buzz and the promotion couldn’t overcome this. The Big Bang Theory dominated the time period. But, it can be said that Last Resort’s male/female mix was different than Charlie’s Angels last year. More men were watching than watched that doomed show.
Person of Interest got ratings in it second season debut that were pretty much the same as the series premiere last year. This is a show that declined after debuting last year, but then rebounded later.

The ratings for the NBC comedy line-up was about the same as last week. I don’t have the heart to even show them. The best that can be said is they didn’t go down despite stronger competition and being preempted in Baltimore and Cleveland for the football game. It’s just amazing to ponder that Go On is now NBC’s highest rated sitcom.

Elementary had a strong debut with a 3.1 A18-49 rating and that typical CBS skew to older viewers. I’m really curious to see if it holds up next week.
