Terra Nova Ratings Don't Look So Bad Tracked Against Recent SciFi Series

It seems few critics, if any, have had positive things to say about Terra Nova. As a lifelong fan of science fiction TV, I don't have much to say that's positive either.* It's pretty damn mediocre and lacks the kind of ambition I look for in good scifi.

Plus, Brannon Braga is involved and he is one of my least favorite showrunners in the genre.

But, I have been tracking Terra Nova's ratings against recent "big splash" network scifi shows--Flashforward, V, and The Event--and it actually isn't looking so bad. It didn't have the big debut either of those shows had, but it hasn't had the subsequent ratings drops those shows had either. Terra Nova is the green line:



Of those shows, only V got a second season and Terra Nova's ratings at this point are similar to that show. When you consider that each season has ratings erosion compared to former years, Fox may have reason to give this show some more episodes. But, that's just a guess on my part. Maybe mediocrity wins out for this show.
