ABC's Last Resort was probably the highest concept show on the Fall schedule. It was put in a timeslot that has killed many, many shows. It's a male-appeal show on a network that usually has female-skewing shows. Since its premiere, its shown some declines, but it seemed to stabilize this week by actually rising a little. But, if you look at the higher female contribution to the rating, that may have been because Fox pre-empted X-Factor with baseball and it got some more female viewers.
(Personal admission: I haven't watched the show since the pilot even though it's on my DVR. Thus, I can't make any comments on whether the creative product has anything to do with the ratings)
Next up, Elementary suffered a 10% drop after an 18% drop the previous time it aired. That means its dropped 26% since its debut in the A18-49 demo. I don't know if this is a matter of viewers fleeing or just deciding to wait longer to watch. The Live + 7's for Week 2 aren't available yet. More than any other hour, 10 o'clock shows compete with DVR playback of shows recorded earlier in the evening.
To my utter surprise, I like this show. But, I wondered after seeing the pilot how much CBS's usual "middle America" audience would cotton to a British accent. I guess the answer would be in how the ratings held in the top markets vs. the rest of the country. I don't have that info.
Person of Interest has somewhat established itself in its second season. But, it went down nearly 10% this week and saw a drop in its male percentage. Baseball, anyone?
